I might be able to admit that here in Brazil we doesn’t have a solid market as well, you may probably know that I’m very fascinated with Flex and had been evangelized Flex with hard work done without the beginning support of Adobe because I just like John Gdren “I believe in me”, despite this circumstances I love the product and I live because of Flex, Flex pays my bills because I code and I do my consulting only because people know my job and how long I have been with Flash, Flex in Brazil Market.
Three years ago I wrote a book “Flash MX 2004 for designers” to evangelize the Flash development for free and to get more people working with Flash at all, today the books reaches 17 thousands download and it’s very important to people that never heard about Flash or even try Flash when they were or are in College or Technical schools.
But not only me but others that helps to the community grow and help them all to know the product and what product means.Those hard work is very difficult in many circumstances and not only for me but others volunteers that is committed with the products because they love the product of they work. But against that we don’t have a good quality of Evangelicals workshops and jobs in this circumstances.
After the Adobe acquisition of Macromedia things got be better and a little support have been grow, thanks to Sidney Sloan, Matt Chotin, people at O’Reilly, SYS-CON and ENG DTP (this where I work and they help me a lot) that helps me a lot to continue giving a evangelist way to speak and spread the technology Flex.
Right now I feel the same problem, Adobe incredible sent others Engineers to Brazil and to speak for small team of developers and small team of company that are client, is a good worth but endless doesn’t result in new business and return to adoption.
Please Adobe give support like you give in India for Apollo for Flex and for ColdFusion the major in my view of what market local are very instresting for it. Open vacancy for Evangelists here works like in US and India, We have a strong market and those technologies needs to be very closely to people.
